Army Corps of Engineers
Soo Locks, Sault Ste. Marie, MI
Project completed: Fall 2022
Last Fall, we undertook a demanding masonry project for the Army Corps of Engineers at the Soo Locks. Laying over 1,000 stones, each weighing 130 lbs, was a significant physical challenge. All materials and equipment were barged in, and due to the location of the buildings on each side of the Poe Lock, much of the work had to be done by hand.
As the weather turned colder, we built enclosures around each building to ensure progress. We are incredibly proud of our team's hard work and honored to contribute to a structure that will stand the test of time for well over a century.
