Soo Locks Masonry Project
Last Fall, we were contracted to complete masonry on two new buildings at the Soo Locks for the Corps of Engineers. This project was logistically and physically exhausting.
We laid over 1,000 stones weighing in at over 130 lbs each. All materials and equipment were barged in. With the buildings on each side of the Poe Lock, most tools and materials had to be moved by hand.
As cold weather moved in, we were forced to build enclosures around each building. Very proud of our team for this one, and it’s an honor to build this structure that will likely remain in place for well over a hundred years.
